5 Incredible Car Features We’re Likely To See In The Near Future

At present, automobile manufacturers are finding ways to incorporate newer technology into their vehicles. By 2020, it is expected that the leading automobile manufacturers will make the vehicles true wonders of futuristic engineering. Today, I’m writing about top 5 technologies coming into vehicles in the next five years.

Smartwatch Integration

Today, the trend of smartwatches is on the rise, and many of us are wearing them on wrists to control things around us. It’s all about the internet of things; and soon by having smartwatch integration, your vehicle will be closer to you than you think. Presently, there are a number of mobile apps available that help people perform actions such as unlocking the doors and raising the alarm in dangerous situations. However, engineers at vehicle companies are now looking at smartwatches to help remotely control cars, trucks, buses etc. For example, at Hyundai, the engineers are using Android Wear apps in order to enable people to perform actions such as locking and unlocking the doors, starting and shutting off the engine, sounding the alarm etc.

Automated Valet Parking

All of us Japanese used car buyers all know that autonomous vehicles are coming. But exactly how far the technology will go making our lives easier than before? The answer is incredible. In the near future, it is likely that we will experience automated valet parking at lavish restaurants and high-end shopping malls. Today, we often see vehicles on the roads that can park themselves. Considering this, the newer technology will allow self-driving vehicles to not only park themselves but to also search a parking spot on their own.

The working behind is that a high-tech parking garage will communicate the vehicles through a network and highlight the spots where parking is available. When the owner wants to retrieve the car, he just needs to signal it from a mobile or smartwatch.

Side Collision Prevention

There is no denying that today, there are many makes and models of vehicles having collision warning systems and blind spot detectors. These features are placed at the front and rear of vehicles. At present, automobile manufacturers are taking technology to the next stage with side collision prevention systems. The future vehicles will carry radar systems integrated into the side of vehicles that would help drivers detect pedestrians and approaching vehicles on the roads before the driver sees them.

Car-to-Car Communication

All Japanese used car buyers have the idea that self-driving vehicles will have a communication with one another on the road so as to operate properly. The question is, how far will the communication between vehicles go? According to experts, vehicles will be able to send signals and alert on another of roadblocks, accidents, road conditions down the road. In addition, the vehicles will be communicating so as to provide important information and help one another to stay safe and steer clear of danger without a human element.

Biometric Car Access

A few years ago, we, as Japanese used car buyers imagined that keyless entry and push-button ignition will be the future of vehicles. Unfortunately, back then, we hadn’t expected much from the technology. In the near future, drivers will be unlocking their vehicles using fingerprints or their eyeball (thanks to the retina reading technology). All the leading automobile manufacturers are working on fingerprint and retina scanners in order to identify the owners of a vehicle; also, to open and unlock the vehicles without having to do anything more than placing the finger or looking through a window. Not to mention, these unique identification and security features will be available in new vehicles very shortly. The future is now!

Is buying an accidental car a good idea?

Nowadays, when new car prices are out of the reach of many, buying used cars is a common practice. These cars are not only affordable but also usually in quite good condition. However, due to the mushroom growth of used car dealers and companies that sell cars from both auction and stock, there is a great chance that the car you are purchasing may be an accidental one. Although these cars appear to be as good as new, buying them can still be a hassle afterwards.

How to recognize an accidental car?

Almost every car’s structure is built in a way that it can survive minor accidents without permanent damage but if the structural damage is severe, putting the car back into its original position is extremely difficult. If somehow a car is mended, still the damage caused would weaken the body and it can be dangerous too for the passengers.

Ask a mechanic’s opinion

Before you make the purchase, it is advised to take a mechanic with you who can check the car thoroughly and have a clear idea whether the car is salvaged or not.

Look for uneven paint or body

While inspecting the car; look for the signs of fresh paint or if any body part is slightly uneven. If the part has been mended, there will surely be some sign or marks of damage. Similarly, if any part has been replaced, it will have fresh paint that can easily be detected as its color will be slightly brighter than the rest of the car.

Research the car’s history

It is very important to research the car’s history. There are various online platforms that show any car’s complete history.

Is the car worth buying?

This is an important question. A salvaged may be available in lesser price but it comes with some limitations.

Firstly, the airbags once opened are quite difficult to be installed back as efficiently as factory settings. This itself is a major safety issue as if needed again they might not perform as capably as required.

When the car’s frame is damaged, it is also quite dangerous as it might be quite weak and can be damaged more easily.

The replaced parts might not be original when replaced that massively hinder any car’s performance.

Final verdict

Hence, it is better to avoid any salvaged car as it can not only damage the automobile’s performance but can be a safety threat too. Buying a car is a big investment and it is not done on a regular basis. It is advised to make the selection carefully in order to get the best bang for your buck.

The EV consists of an electric motor of 118–hp and an estimated mile range of 124; battery of the car can be recharged up to 80% within 23 minutes with the help of a DC fast charger. The plug-in consists of a gas engine, an electric motor of 60-hp and 27 miles of electric-only range.

Verdict

“If you are seeking an alternative to Prius, Hyundai Ionic Hybrid is a perfect solution.”

Highs

Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid is fast, economical, equally efficient and elegant in looks than Prius.

Lows

Ioniq does not give you a thrilling feel and requires a little more refinement in driveline.

Overall Ratings

The Hyundai Ioniq is new to the Hybrid family comparatively to the old brands such as the Chevrolet Volt and Toyota Prius, but its introduction in 2017 was a huge success and made a big splash in the world of hybrid automobiles. The nameplate of Ioniq was introduced with a Hybrid model before launching an EV and a plug-in hybrid version. All the three variants have successfully impressed the audience with their pleasant driving experience, fuel efficiency and a usable electric range in the case of EV model.

Ionic’s Gas-Engine Efficiency

Hybrid efficiency is far more complicated than coupling a gas engine with an electric motor/generator. The Atkinson-Cycle of Ioniq’s 1.6-liter inline-four improves the miles from every gallon of gas with the help of efficiency boosting measures which includes its water-cooled exhaust-gas-recirculation system. The engine of Ioniq has an exceptional quality to fill each cylinder with 20% exhaust gas throughout the intake stroke. The Uncooled EGR system move only the 10% fresh air charge. Hyundai claims that these above mentioned differences alone provides a 3% increase in fuel-economy by decreasing engine pumping losses.

The engine cooling system consists of a split circuit specifically designed to regulate the temperature of the block and head separately. The cylinder head thermostat is opened at 190 degrees by control logic, while coolant flow out to the block at 221 degrees. The viscosity of the oil is decreased by inflated block temperature which reduces friction. Hyundai experiences a high 13.0:1 compression ratio and more enhanced ignition timing with lower cylinder-head temperature.

Conclusion

Hyundai Ioniq is the cheapest and the most fuel efficient hybrid vehicle to buy and have a best driving experience with elegant looks and comforts.
